Very average food, with a premium price tag. Essentially this is an overpriced burger joint with a few "gourmet" items to justify the $14 burgers. I went at happy hour and wanted to order a well drink, priced on the table happy hour menu at $3.00, which seemed reasonable. When the waiter came, I said I would have that and he said "oh, that's the old menu, not sure why it's on the table." He then proceeded to bring me the new menu with everything more expensive on it. If Hop Jacks gave a flip about customer service, a good experience, a strong brand identity, and a desire for return business, it would have honored the price stated on the menu on the table when I arrived. It isn't so much the price but the principle in how you treat customers and ensure they leave satisfied. That's how you generate repeat business and word-of-mouth referrals instead of complaints on Yelp. Maybe the owners will read this and hopefully learn something, and train their staff better if they intend to make this place last.

Became a regular here when needing a late night spot to meet up with friends. Great happy hour and drink selection. Service is average and atmosphere can be loud towards the weekend. The prices are reasonable and the food quality is better than average, for a chain restaurant. For Maple Valley, this is an overall nice spot!

Best Happy Hour Selection & Prices! We always have had great service and food here! Great place to bring a group!

We have recently become vegetarians. The bean burgers here are fantastic. They taste as good as any "real" burger I have ever had! The service has been good too. This is definitely a new favorite.

Love this place! It's my new spot! Great happy hour menu! Very good food! Try the street tacos! Great happy hour from. 2pm till 6pm everyday! Try the street Tacos with steak! They also have fish tacos I'm told from my wife they are good! Been here for lunch that's great too!

Yummy BBQ chicken salad and Mediterranean flat bread. The kids Mac and cheese is literally two adult size bites and overpriced. Friendly staff!

So for sure this place has great service! I am super picky about service. My server was honest about the menu. I asked her about the size of a sandwich, and she could tell that the one I was thinking of would not be right. She made recommendations based on the original sandwich. I decided on the jalapeno burger and tots. The burger was really good.out tasted like real hamburger, never frozen. The vegetables were crisp, and the bun was really soft. My tots were crispy and delicious. The price for the meal was about like Red Robin, but the value considering the quality was way better. I would recommend this place to a passing stranger at the gas station without prompt.

Looking for a new place to eat. My son heard about this place from his friends. Best food ever! Great service! Fish and chips are amazing! Best we have ever had. My son said his Burger was the best he ever had. My husband loved his meal too. They gave us free donuts for coming in for the first time, and wow!! Yummy. We may go back every fri. Everyone must try this place. Way better than Red Robin!!

I love their burgers I always get them lettuce wrapped and they are amazing!!!! Great place for kids they have a fast and friendly staff. I did go there once for a dinner rush and it wasn't as good. But this place beats red robin hands down!!!!!

SLOW, SLOW, SLOW. . . and only mediocre food. It's hit and miss here. Meh. . nothing to get too excited about once the novelty wears off. . .

Been here a few times with my other half. We've had one not so good experience, but it's balanced out by all the other times we've visited. The one time we came that was not so great was an extremely busy time for Hop Jacks. The restaurant and bar were both jam-packed, and we barely managed to find a table in the bar. Food was still great, but it was difficult to get a server, bartender, or anyone else to help us. Understandable, considering how busy it was that day. But...on to the good, which does include their food. Their boneless buffalo "wings" are so delicious. They always come to the table hot and sizzling on their cast iron plate, and are the perfect level of spicy heat and buffalo goodness. No dipping sauce needed, really, although their ranch dressing is awesome too. I had the garlic fries once with these also, and those were amazing! I first had garlic fries at a Seahawks game and was a little disappointed (those were a little cold, soggy), but Hop Jacks garlic fries were exactly the way I'd imagined garlic fries should be - hot, crisp, fragrant with tiny crescents of garlic, soooooo yummy! When the restaurant isn't packed, service is very good. My other half and I went there during a very bad day after New Years, and were treated like royalty. Our server (wish I had gotten her name) noticed we were down and did everything she could to make our afternoon better. It is nice to know that the staff there truly does care about their customers. Prices are about average for this type of restaurant, maybe a little higher, but to me, the food is worth it. Well...I've made myself hungry now, so off for some awesome boneless "wings" and garlic fries!

Great place to hang out with friends. They have great service and there food is good and not overpriced. Definitely worth going to. Drinks are always more expensive like anywhere else..

I didn't want to like this place. Covington and MV are full of these gimmicky chains. Do we really need another restaurant in the same vein as Red Robin or Applebees? To top it off, after living/working in Seattle for several years I've built up quite a snobby disdain for these types of suburbia hangouts. So I must admit I am rather shocked to be writing a 5 star review. But really, this is a fantastic and reliable restaurant staple in the Maple Valley area. The food is quite delicious for the most part, and they have a great selection of cold beers on tap. It's the kind of place that's comfortable to visit regularly. In fact after going at least once a week for the past 6 months, we've made friends with quite a few of the waitstaff. Which brings me to my next point. Other reviewers have mentioned that the service is terrible. Maybe our friendship with the waitstaff is what makes the difference, but every time we have been there we have been treated very well. My girlfriend usually gets the bottomless lemonades and never has a problem getting her glass refilled. Occasionally they can be a bit slow during peak hours, but truthfully they handle the high-volume better than most similar restaurants. As much as this place is perfect for me, I do admit it has a few flaws which might be a turn off to others. For one, the mixed drinks are terrible. Really the only good alcohol they serve here is the beer. I'm tempted to nix a star for that, but having lived in MV for 15 years, this place has made me happier than any other restaurant to grace our area in that time. So that's saying something.

I love this place! The waiters are always attentive and happy hour is so cheap! The food is always pretty great. I'd recommend the garlic fries and the BBQ chicken quesadilla! Probably my favorite place to eat in maple valley. Great place to gather with friends and way better then the covington red robin. Over all has a great atmosphere!!!

Loved this restaurant. I was impressed by the great customer service. Multiple people checked on our table numerous times. We enjoyed the goat cheese dip, the Big Juan burger and the Flat Iron Steak Pasta. The goat cheese dip left us craving more! The ice tea here is phenomenal. It's first of all bottomless and comes in many different flavors with fresh fruit thrown in! They were very kid friendly and the kids menu was such a great value! Great choices for the main meal, choices for sides that were fresh a drink for $4.95. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

First time there yesterday. The service was awesome! Our server, Cara, was very nice & friendly & gave us time to browse the menu. We ordered the Morning burger, the Jalapeño burger & their trial Buffalo Bacon Mac & Cheese. Everything was so delicious! The mac & cheese came with warm & soft pita breads. Sooo yummy! I added a fried egg to my Jalapeño burger which made the burger even better! I'm not a chip person, but I did get the side just to try it. It came with a tasty garlic ranch dip! I think next time I'll get the tatter tots instead like my husband had as his side. We would come back & bring a group of friends with us!

I've dined here many times ONLY because my Sister's family likes to go here. I have no idea why that is as every time we go the service is awful. This is the last time I will be dining here. The food is good but isn't anything so great that you can't get anywhere else. The service is the worst ever. I have no idea how this place stays in business as we can't be the only ones who get poor service every time we've been there. We've had a few different servers and it doesn't seem to matter who it is. They aren't friendly, have no idea how to serve a table with children (or speak to them), and they can't seem to remember to bring water, where things go, etc. Maple Valley is a growing place and if this place wants to survive, they should wipe out their server staff and start from new as far as I'm concerned. There are other options popping up all of the time in MV and I would highly recommend saving yourself the headache of having to deal with their servers. The hostess was friendly enough but again nothing to write home about.

Seems to be the happening place in Maple Valley on the weekend. The food is pretty darn good. I thought that my black bean burger was great, as I had them put that patty on the jalapeño burger which worked out perfectly. One of the better BB patties that I have had had. This one had its own flavor and didn't rely on the condiments to back it up. The service was good as well. We had burgers, pretzels and the tempura pickles, which I have a soft spot for. Everything was great.

  • Bill G.

What is it with the burbs and bland food? Does everything not in the city have to be Applebeesified? You won't find anything offensive on the menu here and you won't find anything great either. It's typical "American" type fare, something you'll find at your local Shennanigan's. Be sure to wear your 20 pieces of flare.

Pretty good for the most part. The waiters/waitresses don't frequent enough. Other than that, food is usually pretty good! I'm my a very picky person, but just bothers me when waiters/waitresses are really coming by enough. I think there was one night where it was a good 15-20 minutes before I got a refill...

Had a Mojito and a Jalapeno Burger about 3-4 weeks ago at this place. It was on a whim, because I was starving and I didn't want asian take-out again. I was hankering for a good burger and a good drink. I'd never had a Mojito before so decided to go bold and try one. The girl working the bar told me that they didn't have top shelf rum for the drink, as it was supposed to, and instead decided to use some scrape of the barrel rum. I'll say this much, the first few sips were great, until I was half way done with the drink and it just tasted awful. The burger she handed to me wasn't prepared in a great way. It was soggy and falling apart. It tasted bland and without any flavor at all, even with the Jalapeno peppers and pepper jack cheese added. I even told the staff girl who gave me my check that afternoon, that I wouldn't be coming back - ever. This place should be ashamed to call itself a burger joint or family restaurant. Will not be returning to this location, ever.

Food is very similar to Applebee's or Red Robin, but cleaner eating area without all the clutter. BLTA is a favorite sandwich. Priced a little high for what it should be.

Great selection of foods to please everyone! I like their salads, but their sandwiches are good to. A local place that has our favorite Mac and Jack beer on tap! Their bottomless real fruit lemonade a are really yummy too! We are never disappointed in this local restaurant, but they do get busy on weekends.

This was our first time here. I'm giving them a two star because I wanted the experience to be awesome. The food was good but far from great. Our food struggled to leave the kitchen & my fajitas were buffet feeling. (dry & just warm / no sizzle...) The atmosphere was very pleasurable. My wife & I found ourselves a table without a wait time. We'll go again, months down the road, & review again. #biLL

They have a burger that is pretty amazing. Now its off the menu, but they will make it if you ask for it. Which makes it a little more awesome. When you go ask for the big Jaun. Trust me you'll love it. It pretty much a burger stuffed inside a grilled cheese sandwich. The service is top notch also. I brought my daughter, they took special care of her. The food was taking a little longer then she wanted so they brought her fries to hold her over. Im sure I will be back many times. Now I only gave it a four star because although it is a great place. I reserve 5 stars for above amazing.

Well done Hop Jacks! Started here off a recommendation and very impressed. Fast, tasty and reasonably priced. Tip: the beer is served at 35 degrees. Cold as ice. Highly recommend!

I have been to the Bonney Lake location quite a few times and it has always been good. This place however needs some help! I really was excited to have a new place close to home, but was fairly disappointed in the quality of the food. The service was good, our waitress was very nice, prompt and helpful - the only reason for the 2 star rating. The food on the other hand was a total downer. I ordered the Big Juan Burger which is supposed to be a burger stuffed inside a grilled cheese sandwich. to quote the menu - it's big...really big! ok, first off, my idea of a grilled cheese sandwich must vary greatly from theirs. I picture buttered grilled bread filled with gooey MELTED cheese. their take - texas toast from the freezer section with some cheese sprinkled inside. Second - when bacon is the 2nd ingredient listed for your burger, it is good to have more than 1 piece on top. To finish it off, it was all served nice and lukewarm (like I said cheese should be melted!) and the Big...Really Big claim, it was no bigger than any of the other burgers I saw. I decided to have the side salad instead of the fries. Swing and a miss! The lettuce was so wet that it have formed a nice ball in the bottom of the bowl and watered my blue cheese dressing down to a vinaigrette consistency. I should have had the fries, which were good (My mother-in-law had those) I will be willing to try them again sometime in the future, but sadly (and it pains me to say this) I could have gone to Red Robin and gotten a much better burger for less money with bottomless fries.

The food was good! I got the pulled pork sandwich and loved it. But what impressed me was the staff. When we were leaving the manager on duty walked in front of us and opened the door. He told us to have a good day. That made me feel like a valued customer. If I still lived in Maple Valley I would probably go here a lot! PS. Get the cheese sticks! They are some of the best I've had, probably because they are handmade and don't taste like the fake ones you can get at the store.

Ordered meat loaf and was served some form of fried hamburger. Told waitress of poor food quality and no compensation for really bad meal. Beer was ok, hence the one star rating.

I think the name alone is worth a review. I guess Hip Hops, Hop Scotch and other favorites were taken. So far the reviews are pretty good and a friend told me that that fish tacos are tasty. I opted for the BLTA. The bacon was thick, smokey and cooked to perfection. The fries were also crisp. I would give this sandwich a solid B. The issue I had with the sandwich is I had to look for the avocado, and if the tomato wasn't red, I would not have seen it. Good sandwich, but I would have loved a healthier portion of T & A. Spouts would have been a nice touch also. Here would be my suggestion for this location to become the kind of place that makes Maple Valley Famous. #1, Breakfast all day, not just weekends until 11. It's getting harder to find a good breakfast and this could push Hop J's over the top. #2, a better happy hour. Everyone loves happy hour, but if you ain't got at least one burger on the menu, you are going to loose valuable business. #3, Burger Dip. Sounds silly, but that is how to get the people that might have opted for Arbys. Seen 'em come, seen 'em go. Let's see if Hop Jacks can skip to my lou through 2022!

The fried pickles and flavored lemonade will be the clincher to come back again. Server was friendly and checked on our table. Received our appetizer relatively quickly. The only item that took awhile to get was the beer my husband ordered. Overall, a good dining experience and will return.

  • Pat M.

Gimmicky and not very good. I really looked forward to this place, and I tried to like it and gave it several second chance return visits, but for me it just falls down in all areas. The restaurant tables line the walls and the bar area is open and dominates most of the floor space. It feels likes a bar with some restaurant seating, rather than a restaurant with a bar. The bar element is prominent, as the restaurant heavily promotes its micro-brews, fruit-infused vodkas, silly little "icy cups," etc. Their listed cocktails are all juvenile and unappealing. The menu descriptions are loaded with hyperbole ("the BEST fish tacos you will EVER eat"..."made with REAL pineapple"...), and further gimmicks like the house made potato chips that turn out to be really ordinary. The food disappoints. Said tacos are formless and bland, the flat iron steak (that appears all over the menu under different guises) is bland and under-seasoned, and the burgers are mediocre. You'll get better quality everything, and pay a little less, by driving a couple miles to Red Robin. Worse then meh.

  • Erin R.

I'm giving them 5 stars because for what it is, and how easy it is to bring my family it's as good as it gets. What parent doesn't get sick of Red Robin?! It's a perfect volume for socializing with friends in the bar, OR sitting with the kids for dinner without worrying about them irritating those around you. The food is pretty good, and decently priced... and the BEST part, this is the only restaurant I've been to that serves happy hour in the actual restaurant part, not just the bar. So on a Friday evening, my hubby and I can take the kids, and still get HH prices and deals without sitting in the bar. Makes us feel like we're ALMOST on a date night. ;) My one complaint is that the salads are pretty expensive, but super small!!

  • Sea J.

I really liked this place. We showed up after mountain biking wearing full cold weather gear and had no looks sitting at the bar. Happy hour so we had the boneless hot wings an they were really good. After two beers between each and sharing an appetizer it was still less than 30$ after a good tip. Thinking it might have to start being a quick stop on the way more often!

YUK!!! This was our first visit to Hop Jacks and will be our last. This was literally the worst tasting and worst prepared food I can recall ever having in a restaurant. We had a few starters (Sauteed Shrimp and a Hummus Plate) and a Oriental Salad and my wife got a margarita. We initially considered getting more food but after tasting the these few terrible dishes, we opted to get our check and leave. Everything tasted like it was just scooped out of a bag or can and thrown onto some plastic dishes. Looking around at other food being served, not much looked any more appealing. There are many much better restaurant choices to spend $55 for a few starters, a salad and a drink. Amazing that others are giving this place anymore than 1 star. Maybe with so few choices in the area, people are being generous but this Hop Jacks would not survive the competition of a Seattle, Bellevue, etc.

After hearing the buzz, a friend and I went for dinner last night. The service was great but the food disappointing and the prices were high. I had a bbq chicken salad and the avocado was so green it was crunchy and the chicken was just a piece of breast with bbq sauce drizzled on it. I would not go back for dinner, but heard the happpy hour menu and prices were great and they honor that in the dining room as well. As far as a regular meal, I would go somewhere else.

This was our first visit to HopJacks, and we came after hearing recommendations from several friends. Things didn't start off so well as we walked past several empty tables to be placed at a small table in a corner under the TV. But the server had a great personality so that helped! I will have to say I struggled to find something I wanted on the menu. I had actually decided to order an appetizer for my meal when my husband ordered the Monster Prime Rib Dip sandwich and I said I had actually been considering that. The server said it was her absolute favorite thing on the menu, so I ordered as well. WOW. That was an awesome sandwich! The prime rib was tender and flavorful, and was served on a ciabatta roll (another plus!) with au jus on the side. It came with fries or tots which were both just meh , but the server had already told us they were the only two things not made in the restaurant. I will definitely return for the sandwich but will see if I can't get a better side next time.

Look, it's standard dinner-house fare. If you've been to Applebee's, Red Robin, Chili's, you'll know what to expect here. Kickin' this and Rockin' that, and a whole lot of melted cheeses and sauces to flavor blast chicken, beef, and fish. Decent selection of beers, lots of TVs, and the food is usually cooked properly. The fish tacos are a must-have, everything else I've tried is standard. But, that's exactly what Maple Valley needs right now; a decent dinner house that is clean, and close by.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Maple Valley! The ambiance and service make great food even better. I would suggest the bacon cheeseburger or chicken sandwich...both are terrific. In addition, the price of the food is reasonable. The only downside is that they serve Pepsi instead of Coke.

Think clean comfortable upscale sports bar...fabulous food, incredible flavored lemonades (I'm a non-drinker). Has become a favored neighborhood haunt. Do not leave without trying the BBQ chicken quesadillas! Good handicap access.

First time we went here with some friends. The girls really liked the drinks in the ice glasses. The hot wings and onion rings were very good as well. At the table there patty melts that were pretty good but would have been better on rye bread. The jalapeno burger was very good. The best part was the service, all in all a great night at this pace and we will be back..

I really wanted to like this place. Close to home and one of a few restaurants in Maple Valley. The beer is cold, and they have a good selection, but the food is average. A bit short on ambiance too.

Hop Jacks in Maple Valley is HORRIBLE! The whole time we were there it was one disappointment after another. First the host sat us at the farthest booth away from the entrance. This booth was lined up against a wall that was so high, you couldn't see anything over it unless you stood up in your seat. So trying to wave down a waiter was not happening because of the wall. Then we had 4 different waiters, including the host who came by throughout our time in the restaurant. Honestly I still don't know who our actual waiter was. We started off with one waiter taking our drink and food order. I ordered fish tacos and potato chips, my boyfriend ordered fish tacos and buffalo wings, and my boyfriend's son ordered a cheeseburger with only cheese, mayo, and ketchup on it. We waited for our food for at least 20-30 minutes. The restaurant wasn't even packed. I don't understand why it took so long for our food. Then the waiter that took our order stopped by saying our food was on the way and that they were just waiting on the fries to finish cooking. When we got our food, two new waiters delivered the food. The food was disgusting. My boyfriend's son received his cheeseburger with everything on it when he specifically told them only cheese, mayo, and ketchup. His hamburger was overcooked and falling apart. Both mine and my boyfriend's fish tacos were cold, soggy, and the edges were dry. The fish were over fried and small. My potato chips were over fried as well. It seemed like our food was just sitting there while they waited for the fries to finish cooking. I sent my tacos back and refused anything else in its place. The manager then came over and apologized. He said he could bring me fresh fish tacos in 3 minutes or anything else I wanted. I once again refused, not wanting to wait and just ate my over fried potato chips. Honestly we should have sent back the whole meal and left. After the manager left we had another waiter come by to check on us to refill our drinks. She at least remembered to refill my boyfriend's drink and his son's drink, but she completely forgot to refill mine. At this point we had enough with this restaurant. We tried to stand up and look over the wall in hopes of waving down a waiter to bring our check, but we couldn't find anyone. We had to wait another 10 minutes before a waiter came by with our check. While we were waiting for our check my boyfriend went to the bathroom and noticed all the waiters sitting at one booth by the entrance folding silverware and napkins. No wonder it took so long for someone to drop off our check. My boyfriend handed over his card to the waiter without checking the bill. The waiter ran the card and brought our receipt. That's when we noticed that still charged us for the fish tacos I sent back and never ordered anything in its place. We took the receipt to the manager and he looked shocked that his waiters messed up again, and apologized once more. He started to fix the receipt then had the last waiter who brought us the bill finish up with it. This whole experience was ridiculous and disappointing. I felt like an idiot in front of my boyfriend and his son because I was praising Hop Jacks before we had gone in knowing how good it was in Bonney Lake. One time I had a bad experience at The Rock pizza restaurant and refused new food. The manager was nice enough to take my order off the bill and give me a $10 gift card in hopes that I would come back and try it again. Why didn't the manager at Hop Jacks in Maple Valley do something like that? If a customer refuses to order new food, at least take the returned item off the bill and give the customer a coupon or a $5 gift card to come back. We will never return to the Hop Jacks in Maple Valley and we will be telling all of our friends not to go there because of how bad it was.

Summary: Good grub, cold beer. Pretty good for Maple Valley. First off, this place is brand spankin' new so I'm cutting them a lot of slack with this review. I'm presuming the issues we had were related to this "newness". My girlfriend and I stopped in for lunch the other day and overall the experience was pleasant. I had the Patty Melt, she had the Fish Tacos. I'm a fan of patty melts, and this one was good -- not the best I've had, but good. Unfortunately, the fish in my girlfriend's fish tacos was undercooked, so we had to send it back. Our server was appropriately apologetic about it got a new order of tacos to us promptly (which was prepared properly). The manager also comped our meal so all we paid for was the beer. Again, I believe the food issue is a direct result of the staff being new, but the issue was immediately rectified. When reading this, be aware that I AM a beer snob. The beer selection is decidedly average for being in the Northwest. They have the standard fare of rice-waters (bud, coors), but also some of the big name "microbrews" (which aren't actually micro any longer) such as Widmer, Alaskan, etc. The serving temperature of the beers is way too cold for the quality brews as it ruins the flavor. They apparently pride themselves on how cold they serve the beer (33 degrees), and that's fine if you drink the rice-waters, but for good quality beers they're actually doing it a dis-service by serving it so cold. If you're looking for a brew-pub with truly local/specialized beer, this place isn't it. Categorized results: Ambiance: good (sports bar feel) Cleanliness: excellent (brand new) Customer Service: Excellent Food selection: good Food quality: average (see notes above) Beer selection: average Beer quality: below average (too cold) Will I go there again? Absolutely. I expect that they'll be able to work out the bugs associated with the newness in short order. Do I expect them to change their policy on beer serving temperature? Not realistically.

Got a gift card for xmas. Figured we would try it for a football feast and take out during Seahawks game. The French dip had ZERO flavor...(horrible). The bread was gooey and soft, the Au Jus was NOT..it was watered down beef drippings...Very bad...we actually made our own and tossed the Jus. Very disappointed and will not be going back. Obviously the cook has no idea of seasoning or flavor.

Its A-OK for MV. One big room with the bar being almost as big as the dinning area. Very loud. Food was ok, nothing memorable. Kids meals were cheap. Won't keep us from leaving MV for food.

Only 4 out of 5 stars because every time I steer away from the amazing burgers or happy-hour menu I am disappointed. The burgers are some of the best around, the happy hour menu is awesome, beer is always cold and fresh. I have gotten to the point of only visiting when in the mood for a good burger now. They also give you the option of tater-tots which is good. They also have several tv's with sports showing.

Been here about 5 times and it depends what you order on whether it's going to be good. I'd really like for this place to be successful but the food is bordering on mediocre for me. Prime rib dip. -- prime rib was stringy and full of fat. The bun was bland and they give no melted cheese so it missed my expectations. For my benchmark, Finaughty's pub in Snoqualmie actually makes a great beef dip with crunchy fries. On this Hopjacks visit, the staff gave my friends mushroom burger to the other patrons at the bar and vice versa. Both parties had to flag them down to correct the mixup. The other party ordered their food before us and that explained why we were eating first, they gave us part of their food order. So some in both parties had to wait for the supplement portions. Flat iron steak salad with blue cheese crumbles. -- Again missed the mark, had oil/vinegar on the lettuce combined with the blue cheese crumbles which made the lettuce a bit soggy. It wasn't a great match as far as flavor goes. It came with stale pita slices. The steak, i specifically asked for done (no pink). It came out pink anyway and it didn't have much flavor or grilling to it, one piece had a unappetizing long grain of gristle in it. It's served in this awkward lopsided bowl and because they didn't cut up the 6" pieces to be edible pieces of steak it made it awkward to slice without rolling the salad bowl into your lap. The steak meat had a metallic smell that made me a bit queasy. I questioned the quality of it. I asked for blue cheese dressing which improved the flavor. This being my 3rd trip, noticing a trend where you have to doctor up the food to make it pop or to be acceptable. chicken tacos -- bland flat grill chicken (no seasoning), wrapped in a cold tortilla. Wasn't inspired by this feature item. I was basically eating a glorified chicken wrap. Chicken club wrap -- I actually like this one that I've had it twice. I chose the homemade chips. the chips are a bit bland and could use some sea salt - perhaps some garlic or parmesan when they come hot off the oil. bbq chicken quesadilla -- glanced at and commented on my other guest's selection, so I didn't personally sample it. What I did notice is that the outside is drenched with sour cream and bbq sauce which didnt make it such a finger friendly food. We surmised that it would have been better to lay off the sauce (haha), since the inside of the tortilla was already swimming in both sauces.

I would say the food is good but I wouldn't knock people over to get in the door! We had a variety of things from the menu and sure, they were all good but not "out of this world"! We would come here again. The service is awesome as several people checked on us and brought us anything we needed. Just plain, old good fare.

We've been here for breakfast and dinner. The food is pretty good. Nothing to get all hopped up about (I can't believe I typed that). Lot's of beer choices. Dinners seem to be pretty busy right now, so expect a wait. It doesn't seem that people have found it for breakfast yet though. Considering what choices you have around, if you 're in the mood for some good American fare, you could do worse.

Decent for Maple Valley. The cocktails are good, creative ice cube glasses. Food is OK, but it is hard to mess up a burger. Friendly service. Reminds me of Red Robin/Applebees/Chile's type of atmosphere. It will do just fine until Farrelli's opens up. Will still look to Renton for more variety.

Finally...after years of waiting, Maple Valley finally has a casual, reasonably-priced restaurant with high-quality food. I've been there 3 times since they opened on July 2, and have tried Jalapeno and Guacamole burgers, fries, house salad, French onion soup, beer, and their specialty huckleberry drop served in a glass made of ice. I'm a bit of a food snob, and I was thrilled with all of it. The kids' meals are $5 and are good-sized and of good quality. This is a Red Robin type restaurant, but with much higher food quality, and it lives up to its motto of "your neighborhood gathering place." Lots of Maple Valleyites! There was a 10-minute wait tonight on a Wednesday evening at 6:00, showing that the word is getting out that we finally have a place to drop in, have a good meal with lots of options, and still get out without spending a fortune.

I eat here at least every other week, I have no complaints. Wait staff does an excellent job, food is consistantly good.

  • Joann H.

The food is very good with a variety of stuff on the menu. Some of the best fish tacos I've ever had and excellent sandwiches and burgers. Solid, good, inexpensive, kids menu. It is casual, good, family friendly, easy. Don't go if you want quiet or upscale.

The Burgers were great! You can tell that the patties were hand patted from ground beef. It was one big room and the bar was just as big as the dining area. It took a little while to get our drink refills and for the price of lemonade I had to wait longer that I would have liked. Wait staff seemed a little fragmented and disorganized. Fries were tasty! Im a little nervous to try anything else besides the burgers.

Went to Hop Jacks for the first time yesterday and it was an open environment with great service. The burgers were Tasty and reasonably priced compared to places like Red Robin. There is good variety of beers and served cold. This restaurant has a good base but there was nothing that made them stand out. I hope they can make the adjustments to make them a 5 star because MV needs a good restaurant.

Our server lauren was great but the breakfast yuck! We waited an hour for are food to arrive and the restaurant only had about ten customers in there. No apology nothing this Is our second visit with much dissapointed both times. So frustrating maple valley will never have a decent affordable restaurant.

I've been here three times and each time the service is terrible. Staff doesn't smile or attend to the customers quickly. Food is so-so. 1st time I was here the service was so slow even for the waiter just to take our drink order. The second time I went there it was earlier in the morning on a weekday. The door was open but once we got inside one one the employees rudely told us that they were closed and only opened for breakfast on the weekends. The third time I ordered the penne pasta with steak. I ordered medium and it came out well done. I tried to flag down our waitress but she was nowhere to be found. I asked another waitress to fix the order and she said "well, just eat the pasta and we'll bring out the steak." Our actual waitress passed us 3 or 4 times without saying anything or even checking in. I asked for the manager when the steak hadn't been replaced in over 15 minutes. The manager Geronimo came out and apologized and he had the steak that was supposed to replace the order (also overcooked). He seemed nice and was apologetic, took care of our bill and even gave us a gift card which we were appreciative for, but honestly doubt we'll use.

Mmmmm. Tempura pickles. They are SO SO SO good :). Being I'm pregnant, that was my specifice reaon for going this past Saturday. I love the fish tacos as well... in fact both times I've been there I've had both the fish tacos and the tempura veggies. The ambiance is fine... but when we went this weekend there was a group of 6 that were really drunk at 4 pm sitting on the restaurant side and not in the bar. It was kind of awkward sitting right next to them with my 4 year old while they cussed constantly and slurred through a religious debate: mormons vs jahovahs witness vs catholics... I myself was quite entertained but my kid has never heard such colorful language. Not necessarily the restaurants fault, but it would have been nice for them to either tell them to go to the bar, or sit the families somewhere else (there were quite a few open tables). Anyways, just a fluke, but I'll be back for sure!!

Excellent Hamburgers, They rave about their onion rings on the menu, I would say they are very good but not extraordinary. Service is friendly and they can slow down when it gets busy but that to be expected. Very good selection of beer.

The staff was friendly and the food was good. I ordered the bacon burger with tater tots. The burger was cooked just right. Nice and juicy. Tater tots were some of the best I have ever tasted. I tried a little bit of my daughter's meatloaf burger and it was also good. I must try the ice glass drinks next time. I will definitely be back.

I used to live in auburn and we had a Hop Jacks there and absolutely LOVED it there. The staff was friendly and their food/drinks were so good. So I was excited that there was one 15mins from where I live now. After trying this place a few times, it is definitely a different atmosphere than Auburn's. The staff here aren't as happy or friendly. And their lemonades here aren't as good as Auburn's which was such a disappoint! But the food is food as always. Came out in a timely manner.

Good food! However.... Don't ever order a double on your drinks!! Hop jacks charges you for 2 drinks!! So Moscow Mule is 8.50 plus bucks order a double, meaning double vodka it's another 8 plus bucks so 17 plus bucks for one drink?? 34 bucks for 2 drinks??? Never again!

I've come here multiple times (HH, Lunch & Dinner) and overall, the service is inconsistent. Today, it's a Sunday late lunch/early dinner time and the server didn't seem to care about anything else except being fast. My friend and I decided that we would have to come on a busier time to get better and more attentive service. There was no hostess at the front to greet when entering and/or thank when leaving. The food I ordered was a tomato basil grilled cheese with a side of a cup of clam chowder. The grilled cheese was average while the clam chowder looked good from the eye but was more on the bland side of things. Also, where was the clams? Minced to almost nothing. The prices are pretty decent though. I recommend coming during HH and/or choosing their burgers for better food with one of the drinks that is in the ice glass!

I have eaten here multiple times since our first visit and although I wouldn't order the chicken strips again all of the other food I've had here is delicious! Some of the highlights: Buffalo chicken flatbread - crispy deliciousness! Spicy chicken grilled cheese - oh my goodness sooo good and super filling All of the burgers are really well seasoned and taste wonderful. My fav is the jalapeño burger (see a trend with the spicy food?) The tater tots are always delicious and my hubby loves the clam chowder.

I really like this place, everyone was super friendly and service was fast. I think it's so cool that some of the drinks are severed in a ice cup. The food I order was amazing. I got the BBQ pull pork sandwich with fresh chips on the side. The meat wasn't dry and the amount of BBQ sauce they out on the sandwich was prefect. I hate how some restaurant would drench the sandwich in the sauce. But this place does it prefect. I'm definitely coming back here and you guys should come check it out.

Not that great of a Place, but in Maple Valley ,What do you expect ? The menu is boring , we waited cause I wanted the hype to die down ... Have no desire to go back ... Service was slow , food was heat and eat .. Very processed

The food is usually good and the staff is friendly. However, I quit going there after my last experience. I have been over charged twice on the number of drinks I ordered.

My husband and I had lunch here a couple of weeks ago. I loved my jalapeño burger, after eating half of the burger I had to use a knife and fork. It was an amazing burger. My husband had the Fiesta mac and cheese, he loved it. The service was friendly and prompt.

We like Hop Jacks, another franchise akin to Applebee's or Red Robin with a much more interesting menu. Food is good and they have a good selection of cocktails. They even stock premium Isla scotch which was a surprise to me.

We love the happy hour here because, well, it's late night and, unfortunately (or fortunately), our normal dinner hour is 9 pm. Since happy hour starts at 9 it's a no brainer for us. HJ's has great street tacos and, on happy hour, they're an awesome deal. Also, tempura fried zucchini. Omg. Yummy! My husband likes the fish and chips. One day I'll eat a burger, but im hooked on the tacos. I wouldn't recommend the French onion soup -- it was a bit salty. Try their extra cold drinks in actual ice cups! A raspberry lemon drop in an ice cup? So good! This place is also extremely kid friendly. We sometimes order a kids meal, but most often the sizes are large enough that we all share.

  • Allison W.

The house drinks were awesome. I ordered the gummy bear martini which came in an ice glass and a martini shaker, tasted great. We also got the warm marshmallow drink which was awesome too. I had a burger, a BBQ one that was awesome and tried my friends Mac and cheese with I think what had pork in it. It was super good. We also tried the fish and chips which were really good. The service was very good considering how busy it was. Definitely going back.

We went here last night, used to go to the one in the Issaquah highlands with very long wait times. Last night was great! We had a party of 5. Our server I think her name was Angela was very prompt and attentive to our needs. I had the raspberry tini frozen drink and one of the new test salads the avocado chicken with the creamy avocado dressing. It was the BEST salad I've had in a long time. There were other dishes ordered at the table as well, no one left unhappy... Or with food on the plate. Then our server graciously bought the birthday girl chocolate cake for her birthday. It was amazing! We all left happy and full. Look forward to coming here again soon! Keep up the great work, and I sure hope that salad gets voted the best so it will be on the menu in the future.

Service was acceptable, but we ordered an appetizer and then got the wrong thing. My dining partner and I weren't thrilled with the food. He got a cobb salad and I got a clam chowder. The cobb salad was good, nothing spectacular, but the clam chowder was pretty lame. It didn't have much flavor, had way too many potatoes and had either ham or bacon in it. The problem with the ham or bacon (I couldn't tell) is that it wasn't much meat, but fat chunks. I had to fish them out of my soup.

Awesome!!! Great Happy Hour "icy" drinks for $5. Come in a glass made of ice! Pulled pork sandwich was great.

  • Park S.

Food was average, except the flat iron steak was fatty and greasy. At $14.25, your not expecting Mortons, but better than this. Customer service was mediocre. Focus is on their beer drinking customers. Kids get to watch their parents get s faced. Save your money and go elsewhere for food. If your their just to meet friends and drink beer and have kids watch you drink, then this is the place. Most of the chubby waitresses have an attitude like they are something special working in an IHOP with beer.

This was my second visit. Nice busy atmosphere but $10.50 for 6 chicken wings...Boo. Service at the bar was pretty good. Mostly pub grub, nothing particularly great on the menu.

  • Corinna R.

Slow, bland and overrated. Went tonight, waited for a table, was told 25 minutes....waited much longer. Girl at front desk claimed they called our name (NOT). Finally got a table. My Guacamole burger had barely any guacamole on it, my hubbies Patty Melt was mediocre at best. And the beer wasn't that cold. Service was dismal. Won't be back anytime soon. Rather go to Red Robins.

I thought the ciabatta bread craze died off back in the 90's, but Hop Jack's brought it back and put it in every dish on the menue just to piss me off! Service was no good either;-)

This place was clean, not busy on a Sunday afternoon, prompt service, and hospitable. Now if only we had liked the food. My kids didn't like their food or drinks but I will omit that because well they are kids and really, how can a corn dog be bad? My kids... I ordered the bbq Mac. I found it disgusting. My opinion only. I'm sure it was prepared perfectly.... I ordered a cup of their soup of the day (seriously WA... Serve a soup that isn't chowder or friggin French onion) they admit they soup of the day is always chicken noodle but made there in house. It was ok. Much better than the Mac. However I could get a can of progresso and be just as happy. I wish I could say I would give them another try... Ok I might, IF I just want a burger not a real entree. Their menu was huge but very little in it other than burgers , sandwiches and macs. Tons of those. Meh. Not horrible just not for me. The only thing that kept me happy was the waitress. No magic, just good service, time and effort even when I explained I didn't like the food. She offered to take it off (awesome!) but I know it is just me that doesn't like the food. That isn't their fault so while I appreciated her offer I declined. It just made me feel good that she didn't get upset that I wasn't overjoyed with it lol. Sweet gal.

Long wait on weekends but the street tacos are totally worth it and the gummy bear martini as well the kids like the food too so it's definitely a go to place for my family and everyone I've brought likes it as well don't forget to get the STREET TACOS! !!!

Great restaurant. We go here once or twice a week. The food and staff are super friendly and provide great service. One of the best burgers around. Good beer selection too. Wether it's with the family or just the two of us we really enjoy this place.

After eating dinner at a few places in the area, we settled on this as our favorite in the Black Diamond/Four Corners area. Good beer selection. Good kids' menu selections. Good happy hour specials. Varied menu and fairly well-executed entrees.

We have been here three times now and the service has always been friendly and top notch. Food is really good and nice selection on beers. I was going to give this place 5 stars, but I was in yesterday and ordered a peach lemonade. Unfortunately the water itself is unfiltered and tastes very strong of chlorine.

  • Jay J.

Service was outstanding but the rest of the experience left plenty of room for improvement. In our case, the food was slow evidently due to a backup in the kitchen. There was also some confusion between Orange Juice to be served for drinking vs Sour Mix used by the bar. Oops. My wife had the eggs benedict. Her eggs were overcooked and the sauce was too salty. I had the Pork lovers skillet. It was good, but not great. The coffee was awful.

New Years Eve early dinner and service in the bar and food were awesome. I had the Tuscan chicken m&c and it was done just right. My husband had the western burger and my son the patty melt. Both were cooked well and got thumbs up from both of them. Happy hour is from 3-6pm so we had a couple of beers that were served frosty cold!

If you're looking to have one foodgasm after another, put Hop Jack's in your mouth. I visited the Hop Jack's in Maple Valley on Saturday night (1/31) for the first time and you can bet your ass I'll be going back for more. I had the Patty Melt and Fries and almost shit myself after the first bite in pure amazement. My boyfriend had the Philly Cheese Steak and holy balls it was heavenly. Here's what really got me wet: Tempura. Pickles. That's right folks, mother lovin TEMPURA PICKLES. If you've never had Tempura vegetables, get out from under your rock and experience asian food for god's sake. And if you love fried pickles (like myself) you will be pleasantly surprised by the textural difference with a Tempura batter vs a breading for frying. As far as service, it was fabulous! Michelle was our server and she was kind, helpful, and patient. The atmosphere was pleasant as well. Much like a nicer Red Robin. If you ever take any advice from strangers let it be this: EAT AT HOP JACKS BECAUSE IT'S THE SHIT.

I'm really not a fan of the service here. We went there last night and were greeted by a friendly hostess. The hostess walked by a few times and smiled at us during the meal, she seemed nice, but our waitress, I think her name was Danielle (??) started off fine, but rushed us a bit. I used to be a waitress and I always try to understand whats going on, but it was dead slow in the restaurant yet she acted as if she had something better to do when she just went and stood by the POS system the whole time. I mean, the beginning was really fine and she just seemed very normal and nice then halfway through it was like she completely forgot about us. There were two guys sitting in the bar area and she just catered to them the entire time. The only time she came over was when I was staring straight at her. She finally came over and didn't ask if we were doing okay or needed something else but asked if we wanted the check, which is kind of a big no-no in the restaurant biz. You always should ask if the customers want to order more (for obvious reasons, money) or if they need anything else before trying to kick them out with the check. Also, my dad was with my husband and I and he had ordered a second beer, but no one ever brought him one. That kind of irked him, he is a lot more impatient than I am, and was a bit pissed off about it, but in the end we didn't remind anyone for it because we just wanted to leave. Near the end, the waitress just walked over and gave us the check without ever asking us how everything was and just walked away. It was pretty rude. I mean, it's not like we came 30 minutes before closing and were the only people in there, it was 9pm when we got there. There were two other tables dining in yet she acted as if we were ruining her whole night. :/ I wasn't a big fan of Hop Jacks anyways since it first opened here, but my family likes the food, so what can you do.

We meet some family members at H/J.. I was impressed that there may be another place to have a good meal. I had the "Monster French Dip" Regular size ciabatta bread, nothing special here. The meat was cold and the bread was mediocre. Oh wow you can mess up a French Dip.. I may go back because my other half liked the chicken noodle soup. That's not a bad thing! I would probably try a burger as the one my bro in law had looked pretty good. If I do I will update my post.

I was so excited to have another choice for dining in Maple Valley. I have tried Hop Jacks many times before writing this review. I really feel that it is a 21/2, but since that is not an option I give it a 3. The have a good bar. The drinks are great. I especially like the ones served in the ice glasses. It is also nice to have a place for happy hour. The food is just okay and that should be worth a rating of a three, but the price is ridiclous for what you get. There was nothing special in the dishes I have eaten. The fish tacos are available grilled or fried and that is a bonus to have that option, but again, they are nothing special. For the price you pay for the "experience", the ambiance is more like a nice diner. It is an open area. It does have a lot of booths, but they have no privacy. Over all, I was hoping for something a little more tasty with better ambiance. I will continue to eat at Hop Jacks, but it is good to know what you are getting.

Whenever I go here I order their salads. You can tell they don't come from a bag! Which is huge! Now that I had a salad I have room for some carbs, bring on an order of their house made potato chips, side of ranch please. Yumms-ville.
